On August 22, 2012, a fireball event was imaged on Doppler radar over rural Nevada and the fall zone was searched by meteorite hunters. Fresh stones with black fusion crust were recovered and then analyzed at UCLA. This meteorite was officially classified as an L6 chondrite that is moderately shocked at S4.
