These are meteorite shrapnel fragments that originate from the area around the Canyon Diablo impact crater in Arizona. When the giant iron asteroid slammed into the desert floor, the resulting catastrophic explosion vaporized a large portion of the meteorite. Many thousands of fragments of this material was scattered around the desert.
The specimen being offered here is an uncut individual that weighs 1.88g and has been lightly cleaned. These tiny iron Diablos were once quite common, but now they are rare as hen's teeth.
