Dinosaur Bone Fragment, "Gem Bone" Type, 14.5g

This is a solid piece of "gem bone" dinosaur bone that was recovered from private property in Moffat County, Colorado. This piece comes from a Jurassic period deposit in the Morrison Formation. It is likely from a sauropod type of dinosaur because their fossils are plentiful in this area. This type of material is sought after by lapidary artists because it is very robust and takes a high polish. Colors can be very striking when when a polish is applied to give it that wet look.
