Fossil Dugong Jaw Bone, Peace River, Miocene


This is a partial maxilla (jaw bone) of a dugong (likely Metaxytherium Floridanum). This specimen was recovered from Miocene deposits (approx. 20,000,000+ years ago) in the Peace River of Florida, Bone Valley Formation, Hawthorn Group.
