Fossil Fish Plate, Green River Formation, Eocene


This superb fossil fish plate was recovered from the Green River Formation in Wyoming (near Kemmerer). These deposits occupy a strata that dates to the Eocene period (approx. 34 to 56 million years ago). These deposits contain some of the best preserved fish fossils in the world. This plate measures approx. 5 inches by 5 inches (125mm x 125mm) and it shows two well-preserved fish.
