Fossil Horse Distal Radius Bone, Pleistocene, Bone Valley


This is distal portion of a radius bone recovered from the Peace River in Florida's famous Bone Valley Formation (Hawthorn Group). One end is broken, but the majority of the bone is intact and has nice heft as a display specimen. It is from a horse species, the exact ID is unknown. It likely dates from the Pleistocene to Holocene periods.

This specimen measures approx. 12.5 inches long and approx. 2.25 inches at it's widest point.
