Fossil Mammoth Ivory Lot, Well-Preserved, Suitable for Carving or Scrimshaw

This is a lot (3 pieces) of fossilized Mammoth ivory. These specimens were recovered from a deposit of Pleistocene clays and are well-preserved. Much of the ivory recovered from Florida deposits is pulpy and not suitable for carving. These pieces are an exception to the rule - these are mineralized and very hard. These specimens were recovered from the Peace River in the Bone Valley formation of Florida (Hawthorn Group).

Note, fossilized Mammoth ivory is tens of thousands of years old and is LEGAL to own. Only modern ivory from recent animals is illegal, so you can use or own this ivory without fear of legal repercussions. The specimens being offered here is from Pliocene and Pleistocene deposits (11,000 to 5,000,000+ years old).

Refer to the photos. The brass centimeter cube is shown for scale and is not included. You are purchasing all of the specimens shown. This lot weighs 577 grams or 1.27 pounds.
