Fossil Whelk, Sinistrofulgur sp, Pliocene, Bone Valley


This large fossil gastropod specimen is a Sinistrofulgur sp. (related to the modern left-handed, Lightning Whelk). The tail tip end is broken, but is otherwise in very good condition. It has had a very light cleaning with a soft brush. It was were recovered from a Miocene-Pliocene deposit in the Bone Valley formation of south central Florida. It is approx. 2,000,000 to 23,000,000 years old.
