Kentland, Meteorite Impact Crater, Shattercone, 23g


Kentland is the name of an ancient meteorite impact crater located in the state of Indiana. It is approx. 97 million years old and measures 13 kilometers in diameter. Today, the eroded remnants of the crater yield impact-altered rocks such as this partial shattercone.

The specimen being offered here is a small partial shattercone that shows the characteristic "horsetail" striations on one side. It weighs 23 grams.
