Leedey, 1943 Oklahoma Fall, Nininger Recovery, Micromount


On November 25, 1943, a large shower of meteorites fell over rural Dewey county Oklahoma. The event caused quite a sensation and when word reached Harvey Nininger, he traveled there and recovered some of the 50kg of stones that were found. Analysis revealed the meteorites to be L6 chondrites.
