NWA 800 was recovered out of the Saharan desert in April of 2001. It was classified by Dr. Alan Rubin at UCLA as a Rumuruti R4 type. It is moderately shocked and weathered at S3 and W3. This is a relatively-rare type with only 51 meteorites classified as R4, and many of them are unattainable Antarctic finds.
