Petrified Wood, Eocene, Brazos River, Texas, 4.5 inches


This is a fine specimen of fossilized wood (exact species not identified) that was recovered from the Brazos River locality (near College Station). The material in this area generally dates from the Eocene period (approx. 34 to 56 million years ago).

This specimen measures approx. 4.5 inches by 1.5 inches at it's widest points and is about .5 inch thick (approx. 115mm x 32mm x 12mm) and it weighs 87 grams,
