Trilobite in Matrix, Cambrian Period, Wheeler Shale, Elrathia Kingi D


This is a superb example of a trilobite in matrix. This specimen was recovered from the Wheeler Shale exposure in Millard County Utah. This piece dates from the Cambrian period (approx. 500 million years ago). The trilobite present is the Elrathia Kingi type and it is a detailed example that measures nearly 2-inches in length. There is also another partial-trilobite visible.

This specimen measures approx. 4.5 x 4 x 1 inches (114mm x 100mm x 25mm) and weighs approx. 261 grams (over one-half pound).
