This is a lot (100mg, or .1g, or 1 carat) is composed of tiny peridot chips that are the result of the cutting and faceting of gem-grade olivine crystals into gemstones for commercial sale. These were originally part of a large mass of Admire pallasite (Kansas recovery) which was dissolved in acid to remove the metal matrix and harvest the olivine crystals for use in jewelry. The crystals were sorted and the highest grade pieces were selected for color, transparency, and chatoyance (if any). They were then sent off for faceting into cut gemstones for sale on the retail market.
These pieces range in size from grain up to about 1-2mm each, with most being smaller. You get one carat of crystals in a gelatin capsule with a labeled gemjar for safe storage. Tip : these look great under a microscope.
