Fossil Sting Ray Dermal Scute, Bone Valley Formation

This is a fossilized dermal scute from a Sting Ray (exact species unknown). It was recovered from the Peace River in the Bone Valley formation of Florida. It likely dates from the Miocene to Pliocene periods. It has an interesting pattern on it that reminds me of an echinoid.
