Libyan Desert Glass is an impactite from the Great Sand Sea in Libya and Egypt. It has been used since the time of the Pharaohs in making jewelry and adornments. Desert Glass (also called Sahara Glass) was created when a massive meteorite slammed into the Saharan Desert millions of years ago.
The lot offered here consists of ten (10) individual pieces that weigh a combined 60 grams. These pieces have nice color and translucency. A couple have cristobalite inclusions. There are minimal chips or flaws and no major flaws. These would be good for a display, jewelry, or resale.
