Libyan Desert Glass is an impactite from the Great Sand Sea in Libya and Egypt. It has been used since the time of the Pharaohs in making jewelry and adornments. Desert Glass (also called Sahara Glass) was created when a massive meteorite slammed into the Saharan Desert millions of years ago.
The specimen offered here is a milky-white piece that resembles a piece of Baltic amber. It weighs approx. 32 grams.
