The Monze meteorite was recovered from the tribal lands of Zambia on October 05, 1950. It appeared in the sky as a brilliant fireball, followed by several thundering explosions. The commotion caused quite a stir amongst the local villagers and it was brought to the attention of the tribal chief and then the government officials. A sample was taken for analysis and it proved to be a L6 chondrite. Specimens of this old fall are rarely seen on the collector market.
