This is authentic volcano ash from the historic 1980 eruption of Mount St. Helens.
At 8:32am on Sunday, May 18, 1980, a deadly eruption killed 57 people and destroyed hundreds of homes. The eruption spewed ash over 10 miles up into the atmosphere and it rained down over several states. This ash was collected shortly after the eruption.
The specimen being offered here is a micromount sample that consists of a capsule filled with approx. 1/3 gram of ash.
