NWA 2970 was recovered out of the Saharan Desert of Morocco in 2005. A single small stone of 108 grams was found. It was analyzed by Dr. Ted Bunch's team at NAU and was officially classified as an H6 chondrite. It is moderately weathered and mildly shocked at W3 and S2-3. This highly-equilibrated meteorite contains almost no chondrules, just a few chondrule fragments, and lots of mostly-oxidized metal flecks. This early Saharan is rarely seen on the collector market.
