The Oracle of Delphi is world-famous for being the source of prophecies and wisdom in the ancient Greek world. Kings, nobles, philosophers, and common men came from all over the known world to seek answers from the Oracle. The Oracle of Delphi was located at the foot of Mount Parnassus in Greece. It was thought that the Greek God Apollo spoke through the Oracle. Today, the site is a tourist attraction and the home of several ruins from the classical period of Greek history. Modern law forbids the removal of artifacts from the site, but I acquired this rock from an old 19th century collection. I have broken off small pieces to offer as samples. Once these are gone, I will have no more of this unusual and rare material.

The display measures approx. 3 inches by 4 inches and has a handsome black pebblegrain finish. It has a glass viewing window and the rock specimen is inside the case with a color photo of the Oracle of Delphi site in Greece. The box can be opened and the sample studied or handled. Note, each specimen will vary slightly in appearance.
