Siljan impact crater, Sweden (age : approx. 376m years, Devonian period, diameter : 52km)

The SIljan crater is part of a massive structure called "The Siljan RIng" which is one of the world's largest impact craters at over 32 miles wide. Scientists associate this impact with the so-called "Kellwasser Event" that touched off the first Devonian mass extinction of species. Specimens from this locality are uncommon on the collector market.

The specimen offered here is a thick rectangular slab that weighs 112 grams.
