Trinity Test Site, Trinitite Infused Desert Sand

Adding to cart… The item has been added

This fine greenish yellow material is a mixture of tiny trinitite particles (atom bomb glass) and native sand from the desert floor at the Trinity Test site. This is where the world's first atomic bomb was tested during the Manhattan Project in 1945. This event heralded the beginning of the atomic age and the end of World War Two. It also signaled the beginning of the Cold War between the USA and Russia.

This material was collected many decades ago and comes from an old collection. It is not legal to go there now and recover this material, but old material like this is grandfathered in and is legal.

The specimens being offered here are a mix of sand, tiny pebbles, and tiny trinitite crystals. Each specimen is unique, so exact composition and appearance may vary slightly. Note - do not eat or inhale this material, and keep it out of the reach of children and pets (just to be on the safe side).

Refer to the photo. The black centimeter cube is shown for scale and is not included. You are purchasing a sample of trinitite-sand material that is contained in a gelatin capsule. Your specimen will come with a labeled acrylic gemjar for safe storage.
