Unclassified NWA Chondrite, Big Slice with Crust, 43g

$32.00

This is a slice of unclassified chondrite from the NWA region of the Saharan desert. Judging by appearances and degree of magnetic attraction, it is likely a L or H type chondrite (L5, H5, etc). The cut matrix shows scattered fresh metal flecks, sparse irregular clasts, and a few armored chondrules.

This piece has been cut on a diamond wire saw and it still has very fine saw marks on it. It would look a lot better if it was sanded or polished. In fact, I'd hazard to say this would be a very pretty meteorite if properly polished - I just don't have the time or energy to do it myself. This slice has a rim of wind-polished remnant crust around the edge. It weighs 43 grams.
