Vaca Muerta is an interesting mesosiderite-A1 (stony-iron meteorite) that was originally found in the remote Atacama desert of Chile in 1861. This meteorite is known for it's curious, metal-rich, lithology. Rare pieces have been known to contain eucrite inclusions. Recent studies have connected mesosiderites with asteroid Vesta as a likely parent body for these meteorites. "Vaca Muerta" means "dead cow" in Spanish and it is named this because an early large stone was found near a cow skeleton in the desert.
The lot being offered here is a group of uncut fragments that weigh a total 20 grams.
