The Wanapitei impact crater was created approx. 37 million years ago when an asteroid slammed into what is now Ontario Canada. The impact carved out a crater that is approx. 7.5 km in diameter. Today the crater is partially filled with water and is known as Lake Wanapitei. The area around the crater is home to different forms of impact breccia.
