This is authentic volcano ash from the historic 1980 eruption of Mount St. Helens. At 8:32am on Sunday, May 18, 1980, a deadly eruption killed 57 people and destroyed hundreds of homes. The eruption spewed ash over 10 miles up into the atmosphere and it rained down over several states. This ash was collected shortly after the eruption.

Refer to the photo. The black centimeter cube is shown for scale and is not included. You are purchasing a display like the one shown. It measures approx. 3 inches by 4 inches and has a handsome black pebblegrain finish. It has a glass viewing window and the ash specimen is inside the case with a color photo of the volcano. The box can be opened and the sample studied or handled. Note, each specimen will vary slightly in appearance.
