This is a "pellet" from the American Barn Owl (Tyto Furcata). It contains the bony remnants of whatever the owl ate, which is usually small rodents such as mice, shrews, moles, and birds. These are commonly used for classroom or educational study. Each pellet contains a wide variety of bones including tiny ribs, skulls, and teeth. May also contain the remnants of large insects or mammal fur.

There are two sizes available

Small pellets are approximately 1-inch in length (25mm).

Large pellets are approximately 2-inches in length (50mm).

Tweezers and a magnifying glass are recommended for study (not included).

Every order for pellets will come with an information sheet to help identify the bones.

Refer to the photos. The black centimeter cube and ruler are shown for scale and are not included. The small pellet is shown on the left and the large pellet is on the right. Use the drop-down menu when ordering to choose which size you want.
