This is a small piece of ceiling tile from the Melecio household in Colombia that was struck by the Cali meteorite. For more information about the Cali meteorite fall and the circumstances around it, see below. Cali is very difficult to acquire and these pieces of tile are quite rare. My supply is very limited.

Refer to the photo. The black centimeter cube is shown for scale and is not included. You are purchasing a single small piece of tile similar to the one shown. Your purchase will include a labeled gemjar for safe storage. Note, your gemjar may be white or black.

On July 6, 2007, a massive and brilliant fireball streaked over the skies of Colombia and falling meteorites struck several homes in the populated area around Cali. The explosions and shock wave rattled windows for miles around. Due to the difficult terrain surrounding a poor urbanized area, few stones were ever recovered and most were not found until after heavy rains oxidized them. Lab analysis revealed Cali to be rare transitional H/L4 type of chondrite. Very little of this material ever made it out of Colombia.

This tile is from Cali #001 event and it has Farmer collection provenance - it was recovered shortly after impact from the home of Yuly Melecio in the Barrio Mariano Ramos neighborhood. This home was struck by the #001 stone, which penetrated the roof and narrowly avoided killing or injuring someone.
