This is a retail packaged meteorite sample from the early aught 2000's. These were made and sold by Dr. Mike Reynolds and Mike Martinez back in the beginnings of the Saharan gold rush of meteorites. NWA 869 was still a relatively new meteorite then and it was originally classified as an L4 or L5. (It is now officially classified as a L3-6)

A small slice weighing a couple grams was placed in a little ziploc bag and stapled to an information sheet printed on colored card stock. These were used for outreach giveaways and retail sale. The cards were orange/red and yellow. Dr. Reynolds passed away not too long ago and Mr. Martinez is no longer in business (to the best of my knowledge). These are a time capsule of the early 2000's collector market.

Refer to the photos. The black centimeter cube is shown for scale and is not included. You are purchasing a sample like the one shown. Your card may be orange/red or yellow (orange/red is shown). Each meteorite slice is slightly different, but overall very similar to the example shown.
