In late 2011, a meteorite hunter tourist was exploring the deserts of Al Jumayliyah in Qatar and found a single small stone. The stone was subsequently analyzed and classified as a L5 chondrite that is lightly shocked and weathered. The matrix shows a fine-grained groundmass with sparse chondrules and occasional inclusions. The stone was about 700 grams before cutting and classification. The finder kept most of it and only made available some small cuts for collectors.
Despite being mostly desert, Qatar is a very small country and this is one of only 18 known meteorites found there. There is not much of this locality available for collectors.
The pieces here were cut and sold by the finder to the collector I bought them from.
The specimen offered here is a fragment that weighs approx. .516g (516mg).
Refer to the photo. The black centimeter cube is shown for scale and is not included. You are purchasing the specimen shown. Your purchase will include a labeled gemjar.
