Trinitite Pendant, Historic Manhattan Project Artifact

Adding to cart… The item has been added

Trinitite was formed during the historic Trinity test of the world's first atomic bomb. Large amounts of desert sand and debris were vaporized into the mushroom cloud and the ground below was liquified into blobs. These blobs cooled and solidified into Trinitite. Collection of new Trinitite samples is now prohibited and access to the old testing site is blocked. The only Trinitite on the market is old stock from before the 1950's ban. This material is safe to own (stored properly) because the most dangerous isotopes have a short-life and they have since degraded into less-harmful decay products.

Now is your chance to own a piece of human history - a relic from the day mankind mastered the atom and opened the pandora's box of nuclear power. This is the very same material that was generated on the day that the famous physicist Robert Oppenheimer uttered his historic quote - "I have become Shiva, destroyer of worlds."

This unisex glass pendant contains genuine fragments of trinitite from the historic Trinity Test. The pendant measures approx. 24mm in length (about one inch) and has a metal bail to accept a necklace of your choice (chain not included). Each set of fragments is unique and may vary slightly in appearance from the one shown. Note, the black centimeter cube is shown for scale and is not included. Your purchase will include an information sheet about trinitite and it's history.

A few more words about the safety and legality of Trinitite :

All of the most harmful radioactive materials in Trinitite have long since decayed into less-harmful decay products. Trinitite emits very little radioactivity now and the majority of it is blocked by the glass vial. For more information about the history and safety of trinitite, see my Trinitite FAQ file -

Just to be clear for everyone - it is legal to own this material and it is legal to sell this material. It is *not* legal to go to the Trinity site today, hop the fence, and dig up more material. All of the Trinitite on the market was gathered before the prohibition.

CAUTION - Do not break the glass or force open the vial. Keep trinitite away from children, pets, or curious hands.
