This is a section of fossilized "petrified" wood that was recovered from the Peace River in Florida's famous Bone Valley formation (Hardee County, Hawthorn Group). The exact species of this specimen is not identified, but it likely dates from the Pliocene or Pleistocene periods (many thousands or millions of years old). This piece is still attached to the matrix rock, which is not commonly found and makes it an interesting hand specimen.

Refer to the photo. The black centimeter cube is shown for scale and is not included. You are purchasing the specimen shown. It measures approx. 3 x 2 inches (75mm x 50mm). Your purchase will include an ID label.
