This is a fossil "Reef/Finger Coral" specimen (Siderastrea Sp) that dates from the Pliocene period (approx. 2.5 to 4.5 million years ago) and was recovered from deposits in the Tamiami Formation near Sarasota Florida. This is a fine example that is large and in excellent condition. It measures approx. 4 inches in length.
